Character Interview with Faye + Giveaway: Signed Harbinger ARC + Swag!

Hello everyone! I’m sorry – this post was supposed to go up yesterday. I scheduled but for some reason…it wasn’t posted. So sorry for that! Yesterday was Harbinger’s release day! Today, I have Faye with me for a short interview.

Can you introduce yourself to us?

Should I do it like they made us in Socialization at Holbrook?

Hi, I’m Faye Robson and I’m from Pittsburgh. I feel…well…honestly? I feel pissed that I’m locked up here.

And I guess I’m not really from Pittsburgh anymore anyway. Turns out I was born here in godforsaken nowhere, Maine. Except I don’t remember any of that.

Can you describe Holbrook Academy to us?

Sure. Dr. Mordoch said it’s supposed to be a refuge, a place I can get “the compassion of other kids who are struggling to adjust.” But that’s just her doublespeak bullshit.

Holbrook’s really just a place for parents and Cooperatives to stick kids they don’t know what to do with. Everything here is like that...the “Welcome Gate” has razorwire on it. The “Meditation Center” is solitary confinement.  And as you can guess, the “Free Time Area” is anything but free.

What do you think of Kel?

I don’t know. He’s the only one here that really looks at me, you know what I mean? Not just that eyes-sweeping-over-you, fake-smile sort of thing. But sometimes when I really look into his eyes, I see a flicker of something. Something ‘other.’

What are his qualities that you like most and you hate most?

Kel has a rawness about him that is completely opposite of everything here at Holbrook.  And I kinda love that…but then there are these flashes of anger and it hurts to watch. I think his Dad was a real asshole.

So...are you familiar with the novel Beautiful Creatures? What can you say about Harbinger being compared to it?

No, I’ve been pretty cut off from the world. I usually just escape into my sketchbook.

If you could be normal – live a normal life – who would you be, what would you do?

Definitely an artist. I see these things in my mind, these pictures of the way the world could be, and I want to show them to other people.

If you would be given the chance to choose between a normal life and your not-so-normal life, which would you choose? Why?

Well, that’s what Holbrook’s all about, right? Dr. Mordoch keeps telling me I can have a normal life, that I can be like everyone else. And sometimes when I’m so tired from not sleeping, from seeing things that aren’t really there, her offer seems tempting…

Thank you for dropping by, Faye!
