In Her Own Words [The Chosen Tour Kick-Off]

Hi guys! The Chosen Tour will start here at Fragments of Life! Before you read any interview, any review, any guest post…it’s important to get to know the author first. In Her Own Words is written by Sheenah Freitas, the author of Chosen, in an effort to introduce herself.

In Her Own Words

When I was a toddler I lived in the ghettos of Hawaii. Two blocks from our apartment was a street that was notorious for drug trafficking. I don’t remember much about those years except a memory of the beach and children giving me a pineapple. My family relocated to Ohio when I was 3 and that’s where I was raised.

Having a younger brother, I ended up being the one to keep him entertained. He didn’t like books — and still doesn’t — but we both created worlds to play and I think that helped a lot when I started writing when I was around 8 years old. One day we would be running around hunting down dinosaurs, the next day might be the day where we say our goodbyes to our parents and go on the lonely world of being a Pokemon trainer.

Nowadays I’m still building worlds for characters. I love to go hiking. I keep praying that I’ll stumble across a fairy or nymph or maybe even an enchanted castle out in the woods. When that day comes, I’m not sure if I’ll ever come back.

Haven’t heard of The Chosen before? Here’s the synopsis along with the new cover of the book. Maybe you’ll like the sound of it!

Kaia’s entire life has erupted in flames after an assassin appears and burns her village down. She’s rescued by a god from another planet who requests her help because she’s the descendant of their last savior. Together with Reeze — the only other survivor from her village and her appointed guardian — they set off on a quest to find the treasures of the gods in hopes of preventing a dire prophesy.

Kaia and Reeze quickly meet the Tueors, a group of people many thought extinct, who are searching specifically for Kaia. Their intention: to protect the truth. As Kaia discovers more about the truth and her family’s past, she also learns of the Tueors’ bloody secret. Will Kaia be the savior the gods have been waiting for? Or will she let the prophesy come true?
