Waiting on Wednesday: FML + The Rules!

Hi guys! This week’s Waiting on Wednesday picks are :

FML by Shaun Hutchinson
Publication Date: June 23, 2013
Published by: Simon Pulse

Tonight’s the night: Simon’s big chance to finally get with Cassie. Cassie, who he’s loved for ages. Cassie, who is newly boyfriend-free. Cassie, who just happens to be throwing the biggest party of the year. Simon’s plan is simple: he’ll go to the party, she’ll fall in love with him, they’ll make out like crazy, and the night will be a complete success.

But things don’t ever go as planned.

In two alternating plotlines, Simon goes after the girl of his dreams and stumbles toward his destiny. It’s one night, one party, and a thousand ways for things to go wrong . . . but a million ways for them to go right.

Why I Chose This:

I like the sound of this. Boy likes girl and girl just broke up with her ex. Boy swoops in, in the hopes of winning her heart. Oh, and it’s set in a party? Go! This sounds fun. I’ve read the first few chapters of The Deathday Letter (I wasn’t able to finish it because when I went back to the bookstore, I couldn’t find the few copies there – couldn’t buy it!) I like the way the author writes. J It’s refreshing.

The Rules by Stacey Kade
Publication Date: April 23, 2013
Published by: Disney-Hyperion

1. Never trust anyone.

2. Remember they are always searching.

3. Don’t get involved.

4. Keep your head down.

5. Don’t fall in love.

Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane’s survival—and that of her adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded humans, to hide in plain sight from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) “project.”

But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief’s son and someone who sees too much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible, Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly, nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules…

Why I Chose This:

Of course I love YA science fiction! So this is definitely a must-read for me. Plus…I never got the chance to read the author’s first series. So I’ll make it a point to not miss out on her next book, Rules.

What about you? What books are you waiting for this Wednesday?
