YA News: Movies, Covers, Trailers & Other Bookish Stuff (3)

Hi guys! Today’s YA News is all about new covers, trailers, upcoming books and freebies.

Covers

The first two covers are blazing! Phoenix by Elizabeth Richards – the sequel to Black City which I love love love! Also, Screen Gems optioned the film rights to the Black City series! Eeeep! So excited about this, read Elizabeth Richards' blog post about it. Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I hope to read this in the future. I just have a problem: I can’t find a copy of Pure by Jennifer Armentrout. But I have an ARC of Deity. :(

Fractured by Teri Terry – sequel to Slated which I totally fell in love with a few months ago. I highly recommend it. And Dance of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin – sequel to Masque of Red Death which I haven’t read but I’m dying to.
Trailers

Keeper of the Lost Cities has a trailer! I’m dying to read this.

Kate Evangelista shares her new book trailer of Reaping me Softly and is running a huge October giveaway on her blog.

New Books

Victoria Scott’s agent has sold the rights to her YA Thriller, The Brimstone Bleed, to Scholastic.

Victoria Scott’s new YA thriller, THE BRIMSTONE BLEED, in which sixteen-year-old Tella competes in a grueling race, with the help of a genetically engineered animal, to save her brother’s life, to Erin Black and THE HUNGER GAMES team at Scholastic, in a two-book deal, for publication in 2014, by Laurie McLean at Larsen Pomada Literary Agents.

Soho Teen has a great line up for 2013! Some of their books that I’m looking forward to are:

The Sweet Dead Life by Joy Preble
Publication Date: May 2013

“I found out two things today. One, I think I’m dying. And two, my brother is a perv.”

So begins the diary of 14-year-old Jenna Samuels, who is having a very bad eighth-grade year. Her single mother spends all day in bed. Dad vanished when she was eight. Her 16-year-old brother, Casey, tries to hold together what’s left of the family by working two after-school jobs— difficult, as he’s stoned all the time. To make matters worse, Jenna is sick. When she collapses one day, Casey tries to race her to the hospital in their beat-up Prius and crashes instead.

Jenna wakes up in the ER to find Casey beside her. Beatified. Literally. The flab and zits? Gone. Before long, Jenna figures out that Casey didn’t survive the accident at all. He’s an “A-word.” (She can’t bring herself to utter the truth.) Soon they discover that Jenna isn’t just dying: she’s being poisoned. And Casey has been sent back to help solve the mystery that not only holds the key to her survival, but also to their mother’s mysterious depression and father’s disappearance.

Escape Theory by Margaux Froley
Publication Date: March 2013

16-year-old Devon Mackintosh has always felt like an alien at Keaton, the prestigious California boarding school perched above the Pacific...except for one crazy night, her first week as a freshman. That was the night she met Hutch, a legacy student with built-in popularity who somehow understood her. True, they haven't hung out since then. But Devon has always believed that they forged an unspoken bond that was lasting and real.

Now, on the eve of junior year, Devon is poised to become Keaton's first Peer Counselor: a de facto therapist for fellow students in crisis, a person to turn to when faculty or absent parents won't suffice. But Keaton is turned upside down when Hutch apparently commits suicide. As Devon provides confidential support for Hutch's closest friends, she comes to believe that Hutch couldn't have taken his own life. Bound by her oath of confidentialityand tortured by her unrequited loveshe finds herself on a solitary mission to get to the bottom of Hutch's death, with stakes higher than she could ever have imagined.

  2. Hi, Precious! I think this feature of yours is a really big help especially for someone like me who's a little outdated in books lately :P Anyway, I still haven't read Pure yet either. Have you tried looking into Book Depository? They probably have a copy of Pure. Ooh!! I LOVE the trailer for Keeper of the Lost Cities :D It sounds really promising, too!
