Teaser Tuesdays: Tiger's Curse + Wildefire

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

-Grab your current read.
-Open to a random page.
-Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
-BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
-Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I’m currently reading two titles: Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck and Wildefire by Karsten Knight.

My Teasers:

Mae West, a famous vaudeville actress, once said, “A man’s kiss is his signature.” I grinned to myself. If that was true, then Ren’s signature was the John Hancock of kisses.

-p. 251, Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck (ARC)

With a crackle from above as if the fabric of heaven itself were tearing in half, Lizzie’s head snapped back, and a bolt of lightning shot from her mouth up into the clouds. The flash was blinding.

-p. 40 of 401, Wildefire by Karsten Knight (ARC)

What’s your teaser this week? Comment below and I’ll drop by later!

“Had enough?” he asked, smiling at Helen’s brazen admiration of his looks.
“Not yet,” she said, a matching smile breaking across her face.

-p. 160, Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini (Hardcover)

I catch my breath as the stranger’s eyes find mine. Eyes as dark as river stones and yet somehow shining, soaking up moonlight. Eyes that widen a fraction as they meet my own.

I’m currently reading The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa and Instructions for a Broken Heart by Kim Culbertson! I’m not at home and unfortunately, I don’t have the second book with me! So I’ll just post a teaser from The Iron Queen!

My Teaser:

His forehead bumped softly against mine, his brilliant silver gaze searing into me. “I plan to keep you, from everyone, for as long as I’m alive. That includes Puck, the false king, and anyone else who would take you away.” One corner of his mouth quirked, as I struggled to catch my breath under his powerful scrutiny. “I guess I should’ve warned you that I have a slight possessive streak.”

-Ash to Meghan, p. 59, The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa (paperback)

That is one of my favourite sweet Meghan-Ash moments!!

What’s your teaser? :)

Teaser Tuesdays: Hereafter by Tara Hudson

Hi everyone! I’ve been busy that why I haven’t been posting any Teaser Tuesdays! But right now, I’m still awake so I might as well do it!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

-Open to a random page.
-Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

I’m currently reading Hereafter by Tara Hudson! I love it so far!

Can there truly be love after death?

Drifting in the dark waters of a mysterious river, the only thing Amelia knows for sure is that she's dead. With no recollection of her past life—or her actual death—she's trapped alone in a nightmarish existence. All of this changes when she tries to rescue a boy, Joshua, from drowning in her river. As a ghost, she can do nothing but will him to live. Yet in an unforgettable moment of connection, she helps him survive.

Amelia and Joshua grow ever closer as they begin to uncover the strange circumstances of her death and the secrets of the dark river that held her captive for so long. But even while they struggle to keep their bond hidden from the living world, a frightening spirit named Eli is doing everything in his power to destroy their newfound happiness and drag Amelia back into the ghost world . . . forever.

Thrilling and evocative, with moments of pure pleasure, Hereafter is a sensation you won't want to miss.

My Teaser:

At the sound of the knock on the window, we froze, our lips only a breath apart.
“Who is it?” Joshua asked me through clenched teeth. Without moving my head, I strained to see behind him.
“A girl,” I whisper.
-p. 151, Hereafter by Tara Hudson (ARC)

What’s your teaser? I promise I’ll visit later when I get home from school!

Teaser Tuesdays: Angel's Fury by Byrony Pearce

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

-Grab your current read.
-Open to a random page.
-Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

This week I'm reading:

I've started to have dreams while I'm awake. I remember music I've never heard ... I've got all this extra stuff in my head, but I'm forgetting things from my own life. I feel like I'm being taken over.

Cassie Farrier has always suffered from terrifying nightmares. On a trip to Germany she recognises scenes from her dreams and finds evidence of a sixty year-old massacre. Fearing for her sanity, her family sends Cassie to a retreat where she meets others with symptoms like her own and finds out that she has lived a number of past lives.

However, the Doctor at the retreat is not what she seems. Cassie and the boy she comes to love must escape the Doctor’s influence but can they also escape the misery of their shared past?

My Teaser:

Where were these new dreams coming from? Tears streamed down my face as I looked back at the window. I’d left the curtain hanging open and Orion blazed in the centre of the gap. I watched the sky until dawn gilded the ceiling and tried not to dwell on the fact that I might be losing my mind.
-page 45-46, Angel’s Fury by Byrony Pearce (ARC)

I’m liking it so far. But right now, I’m reading so slow. I don’t know why. I’ve been reading fast before this. Anyway, I’m just reading this a couple of pages at a time.

What’s your teaser?

Teaser Tuesdays: Wither by Lauren DeStefano + Fused by Kari Lee Townsend

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

-Grab your current read.
-Open to a random page.
-Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
-BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
-Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser:

What if you knew exactly when you would die?

Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant Rhine is growing dangerously attracted to, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limited time she has left.

The man in white says, “What fate has brought together, let no man tear asunder.”
Fate, I think, is a thief.
-p. 49, Wither by Lauren DeStefano (Galley)

After Sam is fused with her cell phone, she's ready to conquer the world! Or at least the 8th grade...
When Samantha Granger touches a meteor while talking on her cell phone, her life is changed forever: her body now has all the capabilities of her phone (GPS, phone, text, camera). She secretly calls herself a "Digital Diva" as she rushes to answer emergency calls. But will her identity be discovered when sparks fly (literally!) between her and Trevor, her dreamy crush? Samantha has to get a handle on her abilities and quick, because when Sam gets kidnapped and the entire town is in danger, she is the only one who can save them.

He stared back just as long and hard, and then answered, “I would never hurt you.”
He straightened my crooked glasses and then, as if in slow motion, he bent his head down toward mine.
-p. 93, The Samantha Granger Project: Fused by Kari Lee Townsend (Paperback)

When I’m using the laptop, I read Wither. But when I’m charging the laptop, I read Fused! It’s quite a combination. Terrifying dystopian and a light and funny MG read. I’m enjoying both!

What’s your Teaser Tuesdays?
